Archangels celebrates 25 years of business support

The event

Fios Genomics is among the 82 companies supported by Archangels Investors, a financing coordinator which is based in Edinburgh.

The business syndicate will celebrate today 25 years of supporting young Scottish companies today at the Archangels’ annual “Chorus” event in Edinburgh, with a gathering of over 180 investors and entrepreneurs. Surely a great opportunity for Scottish enterprises for networking and know more about the organisation.

At tonight’s event attendees will be Archangels’ founders, Barry Sealey and Mike Rutterford, Archangels’ Chairman, Eric Young and the executive team that will give a brief state of the nation. In fact, the organisation issued an annual activity report on its business activity and milestones reached by Archangels in supporting the development of early stage companies in Scotland in these 25 years.

Ahead of the event that will take place at Dovecote Studios, Chairman Eric Young said:

“The four pillars on which Archangels was founded: to put something back; support young Scottish companies; make an investment return; and have fun; have stood the test of time well.”

The story behind Archangels

Barry Sealey and Mike Rutterford founded Archangels in 1992 in Edinburgh. Archangels are a prominent business angel syndicate which coordinates the financing of over £10 million each year. Predominant markets of involvement are technology, software and life sciences sectors, in which the business supporter has a wealth of experience.

Early last year, Archangels investors and other partners committed a £3.9 total investment in four Scottish growth companies, including Fios Genomics. Archangels funding director Niki McKenzie said the funded companies were “each Scottish success stories. Additionally, these companies are selling their ideas, products and expertise around the world”.
