Dr John DaveyBioinformatics Team Leader

John joined Fios in 2021 and has been a Bioinformatics Team Leader since 2022, managing a team to deliver a wide variety of bioinformatics analyses to clients involving proteomics, metabolomics, RNA and small RNA sequencing, methylation, data landscaping, genome variation and more. He has a B.Sc. in Computer Science and an M.Sc. in Software Engineering from the University of Durham and a Ph.D. in Neuroinformatics from the University of Edinburgh.

John has worked on tens of next generation sequencing and long read sequencing projects during a postdoctoral position at the University of Edinburgh, a fellowship on butterfly evolution at the University of Cambridge and a core facility position at the University of York. These projects involved genome assembly, RAD sequencing and many other methods, and resulted in contributions to 35 scientific journal articles with over 8,700 citations (h-index 24). He has collaborated with many different academic and commercial partners and enjoys working with clients to turn their data into the results they really need.
